Mike Stallings Video Gallery

Hi, folks. John Daigle, your web host here. I wanted to explain a little bit about what Mike and I are doing on these pages. He has graciously submitted his excellent videos to help me test the ability to host videos on the CUPS website.

Because of the filesize and the bandwidth necessary for the website's server, I am limiting videos until I can see the impact it makes.

Meanwhile, you can view each video on separate pages. When you are finished. Return to this page to try out the other videos. Someday I hope to make this more simple.

The videos do require the Windows Media Player.

Here are links to a series of videos

Masdive Clip Series:

Video 1  - The first clip in the Series is from a trip to Ambergris Caye, Belize in 2002. The PIP titling at the beginning of the clip was the first time that I used this technique. The song is “Ain’t Goin’ to Goa”, by A3 from their album - Exile on Coldharbour Lane.

Video 2 - The second clip in the Series is from a trip to BahamasCat Island Conception Island and San Salvador aboard the Caribbean Explorer. The song is “Make a Wish”, by Mindi Abair from her album – Come As You Are.

Video 3 - The third clip in the Series is from a trip to Little Cayman. The water was crystal clear on this trip, so a experimented with shooting long wide angle shoots. The song is “Love Theme”, by Vangelis from the movie soundtrack - Blade Runner.

Video 4 - The fourth clip in the Series is from a trip to Cozumel, Mexico. This clip along with clip #9 is my homage to Cozumel as it once was before hurricane Wilma in October 2005. The song is “Fields of Gold”, by Sting from his album – Best of Sting.

Video 5 - The fifth clip in the Series is from a trip to Bahamas. In this clip I started to experiment with speed changes to clips to match with the tonal harmony of the accompanying music. The song is “The Moment”, by Vargo from the Café Del Mar number 10 album.

Video 6 - The sixth clip in the Series is from a trip to Sint. Eustatius (Statia) – a jewel of an island in the Caribbean. This is the only full night sequence in the group. The song is “Nick of Time”, by Bonnie Raitt from the album by the same name.

Video 7 - The seventh clip in the Series is from a trip to Sangalaki Island, Indonesia. The island is renowned as a protected habitat for nesting sea turtles and its large population of manta rays. Most of the footage on this clip was shoot at the adjacent island of Kakaban and includes a deep (200ft +) dive through the Blue Light Cave. The song is “Lily was Here”, by David Stewart and Candy Duffer from the Pure Moods I album.

Video 8 - The eighth clip in the Series is from a trip to Sangalaki Island, Indonesia. The island is renowned as a protected habitat for nesting sea turtles and its large population of manta rays. This clip features a mix of manta and close-up sequences, along with some interesting interplay of sun beams. The song is “Postcard”, by Remote from the Café Del Mar number 9 album.

Video 9 - The ninth clip in the Series is from same Cozumel trip as clip # 4 and is my homage to Cozumel as it once was before hurricane Wilma in October 2005. At around minute two of the clip is a shot of two Batfish face to face. You have to look careful to see them in the sand. The song is “Fragile”, by Sting from his album – Best of Sting.

Video 12 - The tenth and final clip in the Series is from a trip to Sangalaki Island, Indonesia. This clip is almost entirely comprised of manta sequences and culminates in a “Flaming Manta” shot. The clip is highly pixilated due to streaming constraints. The song is “That Next Place”, by Thomas Newman from the movie soundtrack – Met Joe Black.
